Why Should I Come To A Sound Bath?

Initially I’d like to respond “Because It’s bloomin’ wonderful and you’ll feel AMAZING”, but a more sensible reply would be this… If your mind is constantly racing, and your thoughts are very much behind the steering wheel of your day to day interactions and emotions, sound healing can be an incredible way to cut through the noise of the mind, connect to your deeper spiritual side and profound energy shift within the physical, mental and spiritual body.

🌿 A Sound Bath is meditation, using special instruments(chimes, Gongs, singing bowls), we are able to feel the vibrations flowing through our body and it helps us get into a deep, relaxed state.

Each note you hear in a sound bath has a purpose. It’s more than just a string of beautiful sounds tied together — there is intention behind every note and every sequence.

🌿 These specially tuned frequencies of sound help to bring you into a very deep state of rest and self-healing.

🌿 Each bowl resonates through the body differently depending on the frequency. When these bowls resonate within you they cleanse, they clear, they open you up, and they move energy through your body and bring you into a state of vibrational harmony.

🌿 This is a time when you can return to a place of calm, peace and clarity The sound invites you to let go and completely release.

Why Sound

The power of sound is a vast topic(hard to cover here on this page) but it is a powerful tool to add to your wellbeing kit. It helps:

🌿 Resolve tension, release emotion and spur on the healing process.

🌿 For thousands of years humans have used sound and music as a tool for communication and healing, from the Eskimos in Greenland resolving arguments through the beating of drums, to the women in Finland who sing to the pain spirit to lessen the pain during labour.

🌿 Music is within us, vibration is part of being human we've just slightly lost touch with this incredible force.

Each vibrational frequency resonates with particular parts of the body to encourage health and buoyancy. For some, meditation can be too challenging especially after trauma. Sound might just be the key to your healing journey.

Alternatively, if you are also on a positive path and want to raise your vibrations this is perfect, it will give you the tools to deepen your spiritual journey, improving your relationships, work, dreams and aspirations.

In this brilliant article they talk about the vibrations of objects but also the consciousness, how certain thoughts hold different frequencies, when you come to a 1-2-1 sound healing you have the opportunity to raise your vibrations, not only of your body but of your mind. Think of the vibrations as clearing everything out, heavy thoughts, fatigue,, worry. The vibrations sweep through the physical and emotional state, ready for a fresh start.

  • Sound helps to facilitate shifts in our brainwave state by using entrainment. Entrainment synchronizes our fluctuating brainwaves by providing a stable frequency which the brainwave can attune to. By using rhythm and frequency, we can entrain our brainwaves and it then becomes possible to down-shift our normal beta state (normal waking consciousness) to alpha (relaxed consciousness), and even reach theta (meditative state) and delta (sleep; where internal healing can occur).

  • A sound therapy treatment is both a passive and participatory experience. The passive aspect is that you become more relaxed by lying down and slowing your breath. By doing this, you prepare yourself to become the receiver of sound. It's in this place of stillness that you participate by becoming more open and aware of each sound that comes in. Sound helps create the pathway to this place of stillness the same as a mantra helps you to arrive at the still point of meditation.

  • The tools Josephine use are voice, chimes, tuning forks, Tibetan Bowls, Gongs and Crystal singing bowls. It's important to note that awareness plays a huge role in our own healing.

  • Sound not only helps with inducing relaxation, but also has a way of moving through areas of blockage. These energetic blockage areas can be located in our physical bodies, our subtle bodies, or both.

  • The physical body is where we experience localised pain and discomfort. Using tuning forks, we can stimulate the release of Nitric Oxide, a free radical molecule that has been proven to positively affect pain transmission and control. Which, in short, means that these frequencies help to create a physiological reaction, while the sound itself helps to influence our auditory system, enabling us to modify our relationship to the pain.

  • Our "subtle body" is our energetic body. This body is where our life force energy exists, commonly referred to as Qi, Chi or prana. In Chinese medicine, meridian points are used to pinpoint areas that have restricted energetic flow to our physical and subtle bodies. The body is known to have thousands of these meridian lines that are mapped out through the body, in the same way we've mapped out the latitude and longitude of the earth. In Josephine healing sessions she works with pressure points and the chakra system, so as to encourage optimal benefit from your session., .
